TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

A Journey Begins...

This program has been an initiative of Centrelink and Campbelltown TAFE Outreach in partnership with Community Service Agencies across South West Sydney including NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS).
Campbelltown TAFE Outreach collaborated with Centrelink, STARTTS, Migrant Resource Centres, the University of Western Sydney, Macarthur Diversity Services Incorporated and Job Services Australia to develop a customised program specifically designed to give refugees and others from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds the opportunity to develop skills in farming. These people wanted an introduction course to access language skills and job opportunities in the area of primary industries.
38 people came for the information day and 20 were selected for the program that started on July 22 2009. The students were Sierra Leonean , Burundian, Colombian, Filipinos from the Philippines and Karen from Burma.
